MADE ON DEAN STREET:
Two Dean Street artists,
Tracy Collins and Oliver Herring,
have developments of note this month.
Tracy Collins will have several photographs in the show Brooklyn Utopias? at the Brooklyn Historical Society. The show opens Friday October 2nd and runs through January 3rd. The Brooklyn Historical Society is located at 128 Peirrepont Street at Clinton Street. The show is in the first floor lobby. Public Hours are Wednesday to Friday, Sunday 12-5 pm; Saturday, 10am-5pm.
In addition, there is a forum, Town Hall Meeting: Utopian Urban Planning, which will include Tracy, the artists and community leaders discussing Brooklyn’s future.

Artist Oliver Herring is featured on the cover and inside the September Art News. Alex, the sculpture on the cover, will also be featured in the show Slash: Paper Under the Knife at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York from October 7, 2009 to April 2010. In addition, Herring’s work is currently being featured in the Biennale D’Art Contemporain de Lyon in Lyon, France and in a solo show at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, Tennessee.
